..will face the heat after this debacle

In the end, they weren’t good enough.  England bowling was very disciplined and Indian batting was very subpar.  Their timeless weakness against the short ball was never more exposed in the recent years than in the last two games  against WI and England.    Easy first round matches against minnows didn’t help them either.  They came in with a built-in excuse of being tired of too much Cricket and now get all the rest they want.   Dhoni probably gets too much credit when they win and he will deservedly get too much blame for this debacle.  He didn’t do himself any favors with some dubious tactical decisions with Jadeja coming in ahead of Yuvraj which probably cost them the game.  He has shown an inclination in the recent past to over-estimate what they can do in the slog overs with wickets in hand.  Well, they still had 5 wickets in hand at the end of the game and they barely got to 150 even after a great effort from Yousuf Pathan.  It will be interesting to see how Dhoni the batsman will respond, because it is quite clear that he is not the power hitter that he once was and it was obvious today as he couldn’t muster anything worthwhile as the rurate kept rising.  Ultimately, as a team, they were outhought and outplayed in yet another world cup.
