Edvard Munch - The Scream (1893)

I live among the shadows of my ghosts
of a nagging conscience refusing to die
as I pander to vapid banalities of most
with willful ignorance of reason for joy

I listen to screams of their grievance in dark
mourning reigns of terror with bloody murders
but I aim for goals of happiness to embark
for comfort in unknown over life in blunders

I live among the shadows of my ghosts
languishing utopian futures and glorified pasts
as I recochiate around from pillar to post
leaving a wreckage of bonds of souls aghast

I seek eternity in death over fleeting life
waiting for someone to show me that light
out of the darkness of chaos and strife
ending this pain in a meaningless plight

I live among the shadows of my ghosts
weeping existence in the deep oblivion
stuck in the unworld forever to last
hunting a rationale for a secret salvation
